NRHA endorses Save Rural Hospitals Act

SaveRural iconU.S. Rep. Sam Graves and Congressman Dave Loebsack just introduced the â€ª#‎SaveRural‬ Hospitals Act to end the closure crisis. “NRHA has led the fight to stop rural hospital closures across the nation,” says Jodi Schmidt, 2015 NRHA president. “We’re calling on Congress to pass this comprehensive legislation to provide a pathway to the future for rural health.” Ask your representative to co-sponsor this bipartisan bill to stabilize and strengthen rural hospitals.

Council expands focus, accepts conference submissions

MicrophoneNRHA is pleased to announce the reformation of the Health Equity Council and Conference, formerly the Multiracial and Multicultural Council and Conference, to highlight issues related to rural and underserved LGBTQ, veteran and homeless populations in addition to the many cultural minority populations the council has advocated on behalf of for years. Session proposals for NRHA’s Health Equity Conference, May 10 in Minneapolis, can be submitted through Oct. 15.

Journal of Rural Health accepting editorial board applications

EditorialBoardThe Journal of Rural Health, a quarterly journal published by NRHA, is currently seeking nominations for individuals interested in serving on the editorial board. JRH serves to advance professional practice, research, theory development and public policy by serving as a medium for communication among health scientists and professionals. Applications will be accepted through Oct. 15 for open positions of the editorial board that begin Jan. 1.
