Senate continues debate this morning

Senate continues debate this morning.

Both Republican and Democratic amendments failed as votes continued in the early evening on the Senate Republican efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

After the last vote of the day, Democratic Leader Schumer declared that Democrats will offer no further amendments until there is an opportunity for them to review the underlying bill.

It appears that Republicans are leaning toward offering a “skinny” version of a repeal bill, which would only repeal certain portions of the ACA such as the mandates and certain taxes.  If this version of the bill passes, the goal would be to conference the bill with the House-passed American Health Care Act.

The Senate resumes debate today at 10 am.  There are approximately 8 hours of debate time left.
