NRHA applauds bipartisan House leadership for letter on Critical Access Hospitals

Representatives David McKinley (R-WV) and Ron Kind (D-WI) are currently soliciting signatures for their letter to the Department of Health and Human Services regarding the recent report on Critical Access Hospitals.  This means that your Representatives can officially sign on to the letter from the House of Representatives that will help protect CAHs from this incredibly damaging report.  The text of the letter is attached here.   As you know, the 34-page report by the Office of the Inspector General at HHS on Critical Access Hospitals that was released last month would eradicate individual state determinations on which small, rural hospitals are critical “necessary providers” in a state. This report would have dire consequences for rural health care by shutting down as many as 70% of a state’s rural hospitals.   Please contact your Representatives NOW to make sure that they sign this important letter.  Ask them to contact Devon in Representative McKinley’s office or Elizabeth in Ron Kind’s office to sign the letter.  If you don’t know who your Representative is, please visit our action site where you can find your elected officials by zip code. If you have any issues with the site or other questions, please contact NRHA Government Affairs at (202) 639-0550. Thank you for all you do to ensure the health of all rural Americans.
