House vote on AHCA expected soon; NRHA calls for Congress to vote NO on bill

This morning the U.S. House of Representatives’ decided to limit floor debate on the American Health Care Act (AHCA) to four hours and to restrict amendments from being offered on the floor. The vote will be called after the debate is finished, which is expected around 4 p.m.The House is well into the floor debate on the bill, but there is still time before the vote to call your members of Congress now and tell them to vote NO on the AHCA.

NRHA to Congress: Vote no on American Health Care Act

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote Thursday evening on the American Health Care Act (AHCA). The National Rural Health Association urges members of Congress to vote no on AHCA. The health bill does nothing to improve the health care crisis in rural America, and will lead to poorer rural health outcomes, more uninsured and an increase in the rural hospital closure crisis.

NRHA's Response to President Trump’s Budget

The National Rural Health Association is disappointed that President Trump’s budget calls for a nearly 18 percent, or $15.1 billion, cut to the Department of Health and Human Services.The cuts include funding to the National Institutes of Health, which would decrease by $5.8 billion, and to health professions and nurse training programs, which would decrease by $403 million.

NRHA applauds the withdrawal of 340B Mega Guidance

Last night the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) withdrew a pending regulations originally released in August of 2015 that included sweeping changes to the 340B drug program, known as the “Mega Guidance.” NRHA submitted comments to the proposed mega guidance in September of 2015 expressing multiple concerns with the guidance for rural providers and patients that rely on the 340B program.
